About Zaithar

Traits

• Impulsive, but has a good head on their shoulders.
• Intimidation and sleight-of-hand are their expertise because they are an accomplished spy.

Personality

• While many shadar-kai are mournful and joyless, Zaithar challenges the status quo. Youthful and full of energy, they are passionate about defending the defenseless.

Backstory

Like all Shadar-kai, Zaithar's soul is bound to the Raven Queen.  As Zaithar proved their loyalty over the years, the Raven Queen allowed them to steel away from the Shadowfell for extended periods between covert assignments. Zaithar spent their formative years swindling unsuspecting travelers and merchants for sport.  When they aren't working, they are probably out exploring the world with their latest love interest.

The Raven Queen has come to rely on Zaithar's skills in deception, spycraft, and stealth. She sends Zaithar on sensitive quests to gather intelligence and enact her will in other planes. While many believe the Raven Queen to be mad and preoccupied with collecting meaningless trinkets and souls, Zaithar has come to understand that the queen has larger plans, however mysterious they may be.

Zaithar received a message from a raven that tides seemed to be changing in the Bitterwood, which may provide opportunities for the Raven Queen's agenda. Zaithar followed the raven to the signup tent for mercenaries to join the battle. As usual, Zaithar is uncertain precisely what needs to be done - but they follow their instincts and occasional raven messengers with complete faith.

Ambitions

Zaithar is mostly content to do the Raven Queen's bidding, patiently waiting to watch her plans unfold. Along the way, they have come to enjoy the powerful feeling that comes with improving their skills. Zaithar wants to be capable enough to help the Raven Queen bring her dreams to fruition. Examples might include:

• Undertaking activities or acquiring items that make them more stealthy, deceptive, intimidating, persuasive, etc.
• Finding ways to unlock more power related to shadow magic
